Cane Carrier Slats
Precision-formed conveyor slats for feeding, cane preparation, intermediate transfer and bagasse handling systems.
Vishal Engi-Chem, India manufactures custom cane carrier slats and chain-mounted conveyor components for sugar mills. Each slat is engineered as part of the complete carrier system, where the formed profile, plate thickness, hole pattern, chain centres, attachment brackets and conveyor pitch must work together for dependable material movement.

Manufacturing
Cane carrier slats form the load-bearing working surface of the main cane carrier, feeder carrier, intermediate carrier and bagasse carrier. They are not simply bent plates. Profile depth, plate thickness, slat width, overall length, bend radius, straightness, hole position, chain pitch and end attachment geometry all influence fitment and service performance. We manufacture replacement slats and batch quantities from approved drawings, physical samples or verified dimensions, with close attention to interchangeability during sugar-mill shutdown maintenance.
Material is selected according to duty, corrosion exposure and the customer specification. Manufacturing can cover mild steel, carbon steel, stainless steel 304/304L, stainless steel 316/316L and other approved grades. Depending on the design, Vishal Engi-Chem can manufacture cane carrier slats up to 12 mm plate thickness. Protective primer, epoxy coating, galvanizing or specified surface treatment can also be arranged for carbon-steel components.

Machining, drilling & bending
Production starts with drawing review, material identification and datum planning. Plates are prepared by shearing, CNC profile cutting, CNC plasma cutting or laser cutting as applicable to the grade and thickness. Hydraulic press and bending machines, matched forming dies and controlled bend sequences are used to develop the required ribbed, corrugated or channel-shaped slat profile. Correct press-tool alignment helps maintain profile repeatability, bend radius, parallelism and straightness across the complete production batch.
CNC and VMC machining facilities are used for attachment brackets, end plates, cleats, spacers, mounting blocks and other machined accessories. Drilling and hole-making are critical operations. Holes are produced on DRO-controlled drilling machines using fixed datums, jigs and fixtures to maintain uniform hole diameter, centre-to-centre pitch, edge distance, symmetry and chain alignment. Slots, countersinks, counterbores, reamed holes or machined seating faces can be provided when shown on the approved drawing.
Fabricated parts are assembled in fixtures before welding. MIG or TIG welding is selected according to material and joint requirement, and the welding sequence is controlled to reduce distortion. Deburring, edge finishing, grinding, dimensional correction and surface preparation are completed before final inspection and packing.
Applications & quality checks
Cane carrier slats are used in sugarcane receiving and preparation plants, cane tables, main cane carriers, feeding carriers, leveller and knife-feed conveyors, chopper or shredder approach conveyors, intermediate carriers, mill-feeding systems and bagasse handling lines. The same product may also be described as sugar mill conveyor slats, cane conveyor slat plates, bagasse carrier slats, apron conveyor slats, chain conveyor flights, steel conveyor pans, cane table slats, feeder carrier slats, intermediate carrier slats, conveyor slat bars or chain-mounted carrier plates.
Quality inspection covers raw-material grade and thickness, overall length and width, formed-profile height, bend radius, flatness, camber, diagonal accuracy, hole diameter, hole pitch, chain centres, bracket location, weld appearance and surface finish. Material test certificates, inspection records or customer-specific check points can be supplied when included in the purchase requirement.

Custom manufacture, matching & packing
When an original fabrication drawing is unavailable, replacement slats can be developed from a physical sample and verified site dimensions. Critical measurements include the overall length, working width, plate thickness, formed cross-section, profile height, bend radii, hole diameter, hole pitch, chain centres, bracket offset, end-clearance and direction of travel. These details are checked together so the new slat matches the existing carrier chain and supporting structure rather than being treated as an isolated component.
The supply scope can include individual formed slats, matched replacement sets, welded slat assemblies, end plates, attachment brackets, end cleats, mounting blocks and fabricated supports. Components can be batch-identified for maintenance planning and packed with suitable rust prevention, separators, bundle supports, export marking and wooden-case protection according to shipment size and customer instructions.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can you match slats without an original drawing?+−
Yes. We develop replacement slats from a physical sample and verified site dimensions, checking overall length, working width, plate thickness, formed cross-section, hole pitch and chain centres together so the new slat matches the existing carrier chain and structure.
Which materials can you supply?+−
Mild steel, carbon steel, stainless steel 304/304L and 316/316L and other approved grades, selected according to duty, corrosion exposure and your specification.
