Industrial Cardan Shaft & Universal Joint Shaft
Telescopic and non-telescopic drive-line shafts for dependable torque transmission between motors, gearboxes and driven machinery.
Manufacturer, custom engineering supplier and exporter from India
Vishal Engi - Chem, India manufactures and supplies industrial Cardan shafts for dependable torque transmission between motors, gearboxes, reducers and driven machinery. Also known as a universal joint shaft, the assembly permits angular movement and, in telescopic designs, controlled axial displacement between connected equipment. This makes it a practical replacement and OEM drive-line solution for heavy-duty plants where alignment changes, shock loading and fluctuating operating conditions are common.

Manufacturing, machining & forging
Each Cardan shaft is developed from the customer’s drawing, existing sample or application data such as torque, speed, working angle, closed length, extended length and required axial travel. Manufacturing work may include CNC turning, VMC milling, horizontal boring, cylindrical grinding, spline cutting, keyway machining, flange facing, yoke machining, tube preparation, welding, assembly and run-out inspection. Critical interfaces—including flange registers, bearing seats, spline profiles and spigot locations—are machined for accurate fitment and smooth joint movement.
For high-load duties, flange yokes, weld yokes, companion flanges and cross-journal components can be produced from selected carbon-steel or alloy-steel forgings. The forging route is chosen to obtain sound grain flow and strength in heavily stressed areas. Depending on service requirements, components may undergo normalizing, hardening, tempering, induction hardening or other specified heat treatment, followed by finish machining and hardness verification.

Precision drilling & hole-making
Accurate flange drilling is essential because an incorrect bolt circle or register can create assembly difficulty, run-out and vibration. Our hole-making capability covers CNC/VMC drilling, radial drilling, jig-based drilling, boring, reaming, tapping, spot-facing, counterboring and countersinking. Bolt holes, dowel holes, grease passages and threaded holes can be machined to the specified PCD, pitch, diameter, tolerance and surface finish. Inspection is carried out with calibrated measuring instruments, bore gauges, height gauges, dial indicators and suitable templates or fixtures.
Design options & applications
Supply options include telescopic and non-telescopic Cardan shafts, single- or double-universal-joint arrangements, flange-type shafts, short-coupled shafts and heavy-duty mill drive shafts. Cross and bearing kits, yokes, splined shafts, spline sleeves, companion flanges, shaft tubes and related replacement spares can also be supplied. Final checks may include dimensional inspection, flange alignment, joint articulation, spline movement, weld examination, run-out checking and balance verification as specified for the operating speed.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do you make telescopic Cardan shafts?+−
Yes — both telescopic and non-telescopic designs, in single- or double-universal-joint arrangements, developed from your torque, speed, working angle and length data.
Is it the same as a propeller shaft or U-joint shaft?+−
Yes. An industrial Cardan shaft is also known as a universal joint shaft, propeller shaft or U-joint shaft. ('Cardan' is the correct technical spelling; 'Cardon Shaft' is a common search variation.)
